SKALD: Against the Black Priory is a retro-style party-based RPG set in a grim-dark fantasy world of tragic heroes, violent deaths and Lovecraftian horror and it’s coming to Steam and GOG on May 30th, announced with an epic live action trailer!
A brand new demo went live to celebrate both Lovecraftian and Turn-Based Strategy Events on Steam and prepares players for the adventures that await next month.
SKALD is inspired by roleplaying games of yesteryear, combining modern design and compelling story with authentic 8-bit looks and charms that will look familiar to those who’ve played on a Commodore 64
The game has been built from thousands of hand-drawn tiles and images, using a vintage palette. There’s even an optional CRT filter to make your experience even more authentic!
You’ll lead a band of broken heroes in challenging turn-based combat scenarios as you cleave, blast or stealth through deadly enemies using the throw of a dice.
Equip your heroes using a modern inventory system, fulfil objectives through quest logs, and read journals to discover hidden secrets.
Fight your way to Level 20 by choosing a character, selecting their stats and building out a party from a series of diverse allies, each with their own skill-set, agenda and personality.
Decide between a dozen classes and backgrounds, customising spells and equipment in order to prepare for the journey ahead and uncover the schemes of the Gallian Empire while exploring the vast expanse of Freymark and the Outer Isles. Don’t miss SKALD: Against the Black Priory when it launches on Steam and GOG on May 30th!
